Following the success of Online Qualifier 1, the BOV ePremier League Online Qualifier 2 had quite the act to follow. So much so, the event imploded with excitement as the 73 participants geared themselves up on the evening of 4th January. Read on as we recap all the action and announce six more Offline Qualifier contenders!

BOV ePremier League Online Qualifier 2 Recap - Whammies and Wonders

Once again, veterans and rookies dived into another double elimination bracket, vying for the limited spots available for the Offline Qualifier. Without further delay, the following are your crowned champions:

Unlike our previous qualifier, in stark contrast, none of the winning players are players who have competed in the Main Competition Stage of the Malta BOV ePremier League in prior seasons.

Starting at the top, nobody predicted the likes of Owen "Owen_Cut" Cutajar to prevail as the winner. Yet, against the odds and after a 13-16th placing in the first qualifier, he earned an incredible victory.

This involved besting Carlos "Felijc_EU"  Felice in the Grand Final. Also, a younger talent, his only former experience in competing locally is a 33rd-64th finish at an Online Qualifier from last year.

Acting as the most experienced, our podium was rounded off by none other than Duane "DuaneMercieca" Mercieca. Having competed in a number of qualifiers since 2019, this year could be his shot at the Main Competition Stage.

Otherwise, we also can't wait to see the likes of "Bajzu_123"Matteo "Grioli_09" Grioli and Dale "Bonell-_-" Bonello in the Offline Qualifier - without a doubt, young talent always keeps things exciting.

To conclude this second recap, here's a statement from the winner himself, Owen "Owen-Cut" Cutajar:

Going into the tournament I didn’t have high expectations given that this was my first time and I had one of the weakest teams on paper when compared to the others. I took it game by game and with some luck I made it to the final. I’m sure that the Offline Qualifiers are going to be much much harder given that I am going to be competing with Malta’s best players.

Be sure to stay tuned for more recaps of the ongoing qualifiers!
